The Test Itself

What we check — and what the numbers mean.

Everything below is measured on site, at your tap, while you watch. No samples mailed anywhere, no waiting on a lab.

Hardness

Measured in grains per gallon. This is the number behind spotted glassware, crusty fixtures, soap that won’t lather and water heaters that die early.

Chlorine & chloramines

What your utility adds to keep water safe through miles of pipe — and what makes some Tampa Bay tap water taste and smell like a swimming pool.

Iron & sulfur

The cause of orange staining and the rotten-egg smell. Far more common on private wells, and the reason well water needs its own kind of test.

pH

Water that runs acidic eats copper pipe from the inside and leaves blue-green staining in sinks and tubs. Worth catching before it costs you plumbing.

Total dissolved solids

Everything dissolved in your water added together. It’s the number that usually explains why the drinking water just tastes off.

Your fixtures & plumbing

We look at what the water has already done — scale on aerators and shower heads, staining, the condition of any system you already own.

What the free test doesn’t cover

Bacteria, arsenic, radium, lead and PFAS can’t be measured with a field kit — those need a certified lab and a few days. If your readings or your well suggest one of them is worth checking, we’ll tell you what it involves and what it costs. We’d rather say that up front than surprise you at your kitchen table.

What Happens Next

After you hit send, here’s how it goes.

1

We call you back

Within 24 hours, from a local 727 number — not a call center. We’ll find a time that works for your schedule.

2

We test at your tap

About 20 minutes at your kitchen sink — hardness, chlorine or chloramines, iron, pH and total dissolved solids.

3

You get the numbers

In writing, before we pack up. You keep the results whether you buy anything or not.

4

You decide — on your time

If treatment makes sense we’ll price your options. No today-only pricing, and no pressure. If you don’t need us, we’ll say so.

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions everybody asks first.

Is the water test really free?
Yes. No charge, no deposit, no credit card, and nothing you have to buy afterward. We test your water, explain what we found, and leave you the written results. If your water is in good shape, we’ll say so and go.
Will someone try to sell me a system in my kitchen?
We’ll show you your numbers and, if treatment makes sense, explain the options and what they cost. Then we leave. There’s no today-only pricing and no financing paperwork on your table. Whatever price we quote is good whether you decide that afternoon or next month.
How long does the visit take?
About 20 minutes at your kitchen sink for the testing itself. If you have questions or want us to look at an existing system, plan on a little longer — but we won’t stretch it out.
Do you test well water too?
Yes, and it’s a large part of what we do. Wells vary property to property — sometimes street to street — so a well test looks at more than a city water test does. Most companies avoid well work. We built our name on it.
Do I need to be home?
For an in-home test, yes — we need access to a tap, and the results are worth hearing in person. If you’d rather not have anyone inside, call us and we’ll work something out from an outside spigot instead.
How soon will I hear from you?
Within 24 hours of your request, from a local 727 number. If it’s urgent, calling us at 727-408-0242 is always faster than a form.
What if I rent, or I’m buying the house?
Both are fine. Renters often want to know what they’re drinking even if they can’t install anything, and buyers frequently ask us out before closing — home inspections generally don’t include a water quality test, especially on a private well.
Do you serve my area?
We cover 37 communities across Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Hernando, Polk and Manatee counties. If your town isn’t one of them, call anyway — we regularly go beyond the map and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
