Tampa Bay sits on limestone, so hard water is a given almost everywhere. What changes county to county is everything else — whether you’re on city water or a private well, and what the ground puts into it.
Pinellas County
9 townsDense municipal supply and very few private wells. Hard water plus the chlorine or chloramine taste and odor that comes with treated city water. Our home county — the shop is in Clearwater.
Hillsborough County
14 townsCity supply through Tampa and the inner suburbs, giving way to private wells as you head east and south toward Lithia, Plant City and Fort Lonesome. Both problems, often on the same street.
Pasco County
9 townsWhere city water starts handing off to private wells. Iron and sulfur become far more common heading north and inland — and no two wells out here test the same.
Hernando County
2 townsWell country. Hard water and sulfur are the norm rather than the exception up here, which is exactly the work most water treatment companies would rather not take on.
Polk County
1 townInland and east of the bay, with a mix of municipal supply and private wells. Hardness and iron are the usual reasons homeowners out here call us.
Manatee County
2 townsThe southern end of our route, across the Skyway. Municipal and well water both, and we make the trip regularly — including for scheduled salt delivery.
